Basement Sports Celebrates the End of a Great YearMicah Bochart
b.labs—the parent company of Basement Sports—recently hosted an exclusive World Cup watch party in NYC’s Meatpacking District, coinciding with the semi-final rounds of the tournament.
“We wanted to get together here at the end of the year to celebrate what we’ve done,” said Arman Rousta, the Founder and CEO of b.labs. “This is our team holiday celebration; our team that’s worked so hard; that hasn’t slept in 30 days . . . 60 days.”
While Morocco made its valiant stand against France, the b.labs team had the privilege of sharing their collective efforts with investors, entrepreneurs, and fellow soccer enthusiasts who attended the gathering. During half-time, Arman and renowned futurist David Houle (Chief Business Strategist of b.labs) expounded further on those efforts.
“This year we’ve launched our first NFT, crypto, Web3 venture in Basement Sports,” Arman said. He demonstrated the ability for users to purchase unique soccer NFTs through the Basement Sports app, and use them in app game play.
The two innovators also discussed some of b.labs’ other ventures. The first, Kidcoin, promotes financial responsibility among kids of all ages. It features a virtual currency that can integrate with Basement Sports for purposes of NFT minting. The second, Timebug, is a goal-tracking and time management tool, which will drop in time for New Year’s resolutions.
“For those of you who don’t know, and even for those that have been part of the journey, we’ve built some pretty cool companies,” Arman said. “We’ve built some pretty awesome products. 2023 is the year that the world’s going to start to know about the next wave.”
May 2023 be a great year for all.
